It’s that time again! We want to share what some of our readers and bloggers had to say for last month’s Monthly Morsel Question – What’s your favorite 4th of July Recipe?

Check out some of their fun and delicious recipes or favorites, and don’t forget to see our latest Monthly Morsel Question at the bottom – we’d love you to join in and share your favorites!

Kristy from Mommy Hates Cooking said:

“My favorite 4th of July recipe is my aunt’s famous Dill Dip! It’s homemade with pumpernickel bread to dip it in. Delicious!”

Leigh Anne from Your Home Based Mom said:

“Love my red, white and blue cookie bark. So delicious and fun!”

Kate from If You Can Make That You Can Make This said:

“There’s something special about a Flag Cake thats disproportionate to the work involved in making one. Its a simple vanilla sheet cake I make it all in one in the mixer topped with a simple buttercream, and then, magnificently, adorned with blueberries and strawberries (or raspberries). I cannot conceive of a more crowd-pleasing dessert for a 4th of July BBQ.”

Margaret from Margaret’s Morsel’s said:

“I know it sounds “corny,” but I love fresh corn on the cob. It’s in season, is a great side dish with fried chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers even barbecue and is easy to prepare in the microwave.”

Author Cal Orey said:

“My fave summery dish with a patriotic edge? So many choices for a indecisive Libra! I have to say a berry shortcake. That means, fresh blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Instead of ready-made shortcake, rather make my own biscuits. Fresh out of the oven, spoon berries on top. Then, spoon on a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream, and dark chocolate shavings. That’s it. Happy Fourth of July. I’ll savor this dish and stay home with the fur children, turn up the tunes and pretend all the bangs from the Lake are par for the course. Berry power!”

Now it’s time to answer the next Monthly Morsel question: What is your favorite recipe to make during Summertime?

For the hot summer months, I love using my slow cooker, not only because I can set it before work and come home to a great meal, but also because it keeps the kitchen from heating up. One recipe I made that I’ll be going back to again and again is the so-called Mahogany-glazed pork roast from Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Cookbook (got it off our company shelf)…it has hints of orange marmalade for a little summer-citrus, is a great hearty meal after a long day of work and cooks up to moist and tender perfection. Yum!
